Sometimes people ask why Little Galilee asks for money to help the camp. After all, the camp charges money to attend camp. Doesn’t that cover all of the expenses? In a word, no. In fact Little Galilee only charges about 1/2 of the actual cost of a youth camp session. We do that on purpose. The reason we do that is we want as many young people to come to Little Galilee as possible to hear the good news about Jesus.
Churches, Sunday School classes and people who give to the General Fund, or the Kingdom Builders Club, help make up that difference. Without faithful, consistent financial gifts we would have to severely raise our prices and that would perhaps limit the number of people that attend here. This year we had 1,772 youth attend a camp session. The need is real and growing as our attendance increases. Each gift to Little Galilee’s General Fund is an investment with eternal dividends.
Little Galilee has built five major buildings in the past six years. The Activity Center and four new Cabins were built and equipped debt free! We are in the process of retrofitting the old girls dorms to year round facilities. We also are in the process of renovating and putting heat in the old Dining Hall so it too can be used year round. These projects will cost approximately $300,000 and two years to complete and will also be completed debt free!
Money that is designated for the Building Fund, which is also known as the Larger Vision or Gideon’s Club fund, is used only for the building projects. We are not building for the purpose of building, but to have facilities that people can come to year round to be strengthened in their Christian faith or to hear the Good News and become followers of Christ and active members of the church!
That briefly is why Little Galilee needs financial gifts. We are also in the process of setting up an automatic electronic deposit that will allow you to give as much as you choose on a monthly basis without you having to write and mail us a check.
